As the complexity of vehicles continues to grow, many workshops can find themselves at a dead end, particularly when faced with difficult electrical issues, or the need for advanced diagnostics. When this happens, some garages tell their own customers they can’t solve the issue, or worse still, send them to a dealership. Both mean not only a loss of business, but also a loss in customer confidence. However, there is often a third alternative. 

Now under its present ownership for just over two years, Autocare in Dublin’s Ballybough, has carved out a reputation with its customers, for solving the type of complex issues that many technicians cannot. In doing this, it has also built a reputation for offering diagnostics services and other specialist repairs for the trade. 

Owner Federico Prengzaj says, “It simply does not make sense for a garage to turn a customer away when they have the option of letting our specialist team take a look. Our advanced equipment and expertise, mean that we can identify and solve most issues quickly.” He adds, “We do lots of diagnostic and auto electric work for garages from right across the Dublin region and even have some dealerships coming to us for help.”

Fede makes the point that what the Autocare team do, is true diagnostics and not just trial and error parts replacement. Using a range of equipment, including, Autologic Diagnostic tools, they get to the bottom of issues, to ensure they do not reoccur. He says, “We can offer dealer level diagnostics on a wide range of makes and have the back-up of the Autologic for information on fault codes, wiring diagrams, step-by-step repairs and testing procedures.” 

Fede is from an Italian family and worked in his father’s Milan workshop before moving to join other family members working in Ireland’s motor trade. Since taking over Autocare, he has expanded the range of services and expertise on offer, as well as opening a new workshop in North County Dublin.  

The Autocare premises will be known to many in Dublin as the site of Charley’s bike shop, in a prime location on Dublin's Northside. Here Fede has a team of 7 staff, including 3 highly experienced auto electricians. He has invested in training and equipment to stay up-to-date with the latest technology and also combines more traditional services, such as machining facilities to create bespoke parts.  

As well as expertise in diagnostic and electrical, Autocare can also offer trade customers many other services including; Key fobs, Wiring, Reprogramming, Re-flashing, Bluetooth, Remapping, as well as Brake testing, DPF Cleaning,  EGR issues, Emissions testing and A/C Servicing.
