Vacuum manufacturer Dyson has expanded its plans to enter the Electric Vehicle market by announcing two new models adding to one already in development, with the first to be available in 2020.

The first vehicle is seen as a limited run pioneering model to establish supplier links and gain expertise, while the second and third will be more aimed at the mass-market.

Market speculation suggests that possibly the second and third models will utilise Solid-state battery technology, giving the company an advantage over competitors. Solid-state battery packs are quicker to charge and potentially more powerful than liquid cells. Many mainstream car makers, most notably Toyota, are also developing this technology.

It is thought that initially Dyson will aim its vehicles at premium technologically minded buyers in a similar way to its household electrical goods. Although being developed in the UK there the  speculation is that the cars will actually be manufactured in the Far East.
