Diagnostic Solutions hosted two very successful Pico Roadshows in May held at the ETB Cork and the Diagnostic Solutions Training Centre in Dublin. The shows represented the Irish leg of a 30 date tour for the Pico team, as they spread the word on how Pico software and equipment can transform a garage’s diagnostic skills.

Both of the free events were very well attended, with Colin Reed of Diagnostic Solutions welcoming the diverse range of technicians and garages owners who attended each evening from all over Ireland. Phil Rutt and Steve Smith from Pico were both on hand to do presentations and demonstrations.

On each evening attendees were split into two groups. One group first received an interesting presentation from Phil on how to download and use Pico’s unique free software which provides access to a wealth of information and waveform libraries. Phil also showed how linking this software to a Picoscope Diagnostic tool can open up a world of new diagnostic possibilities for a garage.

The second group received a practical hands-on demonstration of the Picoscope in action linked to a VW Transporter from Steve Smith. Steve showed how to set-up the equipment and make the right connections. He then demonstrated the diversity and detail of the waveform data that the scope can produce in contrast to the very basic snap shot that can be captured with a multimeter. He then provided a number of practical insights into the interpretation of the data and how this can lead to a successful problem diagnosis.

At the end of each session the groups were alternated so that each had a total overview of the software, equipment and the opportunities they can open up. Those attending the evening gave very positive feedback on how they had expanded their knowledge and picked up some very useful practical diagnostic tips. Those attending who had not previously used an oscilloscope also commented on the accessibility of the technology.
