Leading engine products and drive systems supplier Dayco has announced that an engine  built with Dayco products and systems has been named an International Engine of the Year Award winner for the fifth consecutive year. In total, 7 of the 12 categories were won by engines designed with Dayco content.


The Ferrari 3.9-litre biturbo V8 engine, winner of the International Engine of the Year category, the 3.0-litre to 4.0-litre category, and the New Engine category, were all designed using a Dayco accessory drive idler. Ford Motor Company’s 999cc three-cylinder turbo engine, engineered using the Dayco timing belt-in-oil system for both the primary and oil pump drives, won the Sub 1-liter category for the fifth consecutive year. In the 1.0-litre to 1.4-litre category, PSA Peugeot Citroen’s 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo, also designed with the Dayco timing belt-in-oil system as well as a timing tensioner, idler, accessory drive belt, accessory tensioner, and water pump belt, won this category for the second straight year. And in the Above 4.0-litre category, Ferrari won with its 6.3-liter V12 engine, designed with a Dayco accessory drive tensioner.

The 2016 International Engine of the Year Awards jury was made up of 62 of the world’s most respected motoring journalists from 31 countries. They judged each engine using criteria such as fuel economy, smoothness, performance, noise and drivability.
