Local driver Keith Cronin from Ballylickey and co-driver Mikie Galvin from Killarney in a Ford Fiesta Rally 2 were the convincing winners of the Clonakilty Park Hotel West Cork Rally with just over a minute to spare after three tough days of rallying.
They took the lead early on in the the second day in atrocious conditions and were never seriously threatened once Callum Devine suffered a puncture on the third of Saturdays stages.
The weather was much kinder on Sunday and Cronin gave a masterclass in managing the lead throughout the day, never letting his concentration slip, as he did when winning in Galway on the first round of the Irish Tarmac Championship.
At the finish Cronin had 57.2 seconds to spare over Matt Edwards and David Moynihan in similar Fiesta Rally 2. The Ford domination completed with William Creighton and Liam Regan also in a Ford Fiesta Rally 2 coming home in third place a further twenty-nine seconds further back.
The Junior Rally was won by Kyle Browne from Evan McEvoy who survived a big moment on Ardfield with Graham Roche in third place, all three drivers in Honda Civics.
The Historic Rally was closely contested between Welsh drivers Tomas Davies and Neil Williams, both in Ford Escort Mk2s.
