William Creighton has become the first Irish driver to win the Junior World Rally Championship since Craig Breen in 2011.

William was crowned Junior World Rally Champion, following a dramatic final round in Greece, after a dramatic drive in difficult conditions. He and co-driver Liam Regan, overcame many setbacks during the event to win the championship.

They were welcomed home to Dublin airport by a delegation from Motorsport Ireland, including President Aidan Harper, Sporting Manager Art McCarrick and Motorsport Ireland Rally Academy Manager Sean McHugh.

"This is an incredible achievement for William Creighton and Liam Regan. What a proud day for Motorsport Ireland and especially the Motorsport Ireland Academy, which was founded and developed four years ago, by John Coyne to identify, develop, support, and encourage young Irish athletes, who have the talent to become first in class and best in the world, " said President Harper.

Creighton was delighted when confirmed Junior World Rally Champion at the EKO Acropolis Greece Rally. His result is even more significant, as he is following in the wheel tracks of the late and great Craig Breen, who claimed the title for Ireland 12 years ago.
