ContiTech replace popular VW Audi timing belt kit

Power transmission specialist ContiTech has introduced a new timing belt kit to solve a common problem with VW/Audi 1.6/2.0 TDI Common Rail Engines.

ContiTech have found that in vehicles up to year of manufacture 11/2010 the factory-fitted guide pulley is wider (51 mm) than the one supplied in kit CT 1139 K2. The latter pulley corresponds to the V55735 from the replaced CT 1139K1/WP1/WP4 kits.

Only the narrower V56376 components (29 mm) – fitted as standard from 12/2010 onwards – is now to be used by the manufacturer INA (of similar appearance).

Timing Belt Kit CT 1139 K2/WP2/WP6 therefore now replaces CT 1139 K1/WP1/WP4. ContiTech says the new version will be fitted in future for all models and can be used without restriction.
