On Saturday the 10th May a group of sixteen climbed Carrauntoohil to celebrate the 10th anniversary and the success of the original Climb4Cancer 2015. All funds raised once again went to the Irish Cancer Society.
The team got a chance to meet again and tackle the daunting challenge of the aptly named ‘Devils Ladder’ before summiting Carrauntoohil. The participants each carried a daffodil symbol attached to a yellow ribbon with the name of someone they knew who had sadly lost their battle against cancer. Climb4Cancer 2025 was above all a walk to remember loved ones who have passed, as well as those who are fighting cancer and their loved ones.
Frank Byrnes, one of the event organisers of the walk, said it was great to see not only so many of the original people turn up ten years on and ten years older, but it was also great to see a few new faces as well.
Frank’s fellow event organiser Peter Daly said, “It’s an extraordinary privilege to be a part of both events with an amazing group of people for such a great cause so close to all our hearts. While we have participants supporters from all walks of life it is great to see so many colleagues and friends from the motor trade working together to support this great cause.”
This year’s event expects to raise €6,000 for the Irish Cancer Society for cancer research. Frank and Peter and all the team would like to thank the main event sponsors Synergy VRSI, the Top Part Group and Vizion Ireland for their generous sponsorship and all who have donated to and supported Climb4Cancer 2025.
