Changing thinking in concept cars

If you believe that concept cars have been getting a little conservative of late, then you might be pleasantly surprised by iChange from Swiss manufacturer Rinspeed at the Geneva Motor Show.

Its power source, lithium-ion batteries, is nothing new in the concept car world but the fact that it can change its shape is. The car would normally be a single seater, geared to optimise aero dynamics. However, it can quickly morph into a three-seater 'sports van' if required.

In one-seater mode, the car is capable of 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 138mph via a six-speed Subaru WRX gearbox.  Then in seconds the streamlined one-seater transforms into a comfortable three seater, with the rear end of the teardrop-shaped car rising from the body.
