If you have ever suffered a long car journey with an impatient child then spare a thought for Graham and Eirene Naismith, who have just returned from the adventure of a lifetime, driving to Australia with three children under eight.

Graham said he was fed up with commuting into London, so began planning the driving marathon with his wife. The trip took them from Croydon in Surrey through France, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria and Poland. Followed by the Ukraine, Russia, a month in Kazakhstan, two weeks in Kyrgyzstan and three months to cross China, where they took in the Olympic Games. It was then on to Laos, Thailand and Singapore before a final three months in Australia.

The trip was done in a Toyota Land Cruiser and also helped to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
