Car Buyers Guide champions cheaper insurance

Car Buyers Guide has announced that it wants to get a better insurance price for Irish consumers.

Most people's insurance has gone up by up to 50% in the last 18 months with little or no explanation from the Insurance companies and no transparency as to why. Daragh Ó Tuama, Editor of Car Buyers Guide, says "it's time get a better deal for Irish consumers".

Car Buyers Guide is asking Irish consumers to fill in a simple survey on their website, www.CBG.ie/insurance.

Massive car insurance costs are putting huge pressure on household budgets in Ireland. With the results, Ireland's longest standing motoring website will be able to tell consumers if they are paying over the odds and point them to where they can get a better deal based on other survey responses.

Mr. Ó Tuama said, “People are being unfairly charged, and this survey is to establish the comparisons between people in similar categories and demographics. There’s no transparency in the industry. This is the first survey of its kind, and by taking part, we’ll be able to get accurate details as to who is being charged what. We’ll find out if your demographic is being charged more by one insurer in comparison to others.”

In the last 18 months, insurance prices have leaped by circa 50%, yet there is no transparency as to why this is happening. While the Car Buyers Guide
survey may not find out the reasons for the increase in insurance prices, the main goal remains, to get a better price for Irish consumers. Results
from the survey will show how an individual's insurance price compares to others. It should also highlight some of the differences in prices that
people pay based on location and professions.

The survey has been completed by more than 3,000 individuals so far, and the early results are staggering. For example, 93% of respondents claim that they’ve noticed a rise in their insurance in the last 12 months. Of those, 85% claim to have had no reason for the increase - as in they have not changed car, had an accident, changed address or working circumstances.
