Bodyshops could be tapping into the fleet business, by offering body checks and minor repairs that could help companies save thousands of Euro. That is one of the conclusions that can be drawn from a Fleet News survey, which found almost a third of fleet managers fail to check the condition of their end-of-contract lease cars before returning them. Those that do check, often take a chance of returning cars with minor damage only to be hit with big penalties.
The drop in used car values, mean that many lease companies are now being very strict in applying refurbishment charges under the contract, meaning anything beyond normal wear and tear is charged, often at a premium rate.
Bodyshops can help businesses get around this zero tolerance approach by offering a free body check service and putting any damage right at a keen rate. This is also a good means of establishing an ongoing relationship with fleet customers.
