Blue Print warns on van brake pad quality

Front Brake Disc for popular vans are especially in demand with aftermarket suppliers and Blue Print has highlighted how its pads beat many competitors on quality, which is vital for these very hard working components.

Its ADZ94317 front discs are universal on the common platform Nissan Primastar, Renault Trafic, Opel Vivaro, making them a fast selling item. Blue Print recently carried out a competitor analysis to show how quality on some pads may be compromised in an attempt to make the price more competitive.

Blue Print says one sure fire way to reduce the cost of a brake disc is to reduce the mass and increase the vent gap, something that some of its competitors have done. These two simple differences means there is less material to dissipate the heat. This is likely to result in the discs warping and cracking, which leads to reduced service life and increased warranty claims. The performance of the pads is also compromised meaning possible safety issues for these hard working vehicles.

The stats show that in both weight and vent gap tests, Blue Print was clearly ahead;

Weight:
Blue Print – 9.15Kg
Competitor – 8.52Kg

Vent Gap:
Blue Print – 8.50mm
Competitor – 10.70mm

The message from Blue Print is that users need to carefully consider the performance of the component in the box and be fully confident about its quality.
