The Bloodhound project, which aims to break the World Land Speed Record

and then go on to break the 1000 mph barrier, has been given a boost with the award of a £1 million grant. Additives supplier STP is a key sponsor of the record breaking vehicle.

The grant has allowed the Bloodhound team to move into a new Technical Centre which provides four times the previous workspace. The STEM grant was awarded to the project as recognition of its success in inspiring children about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The Bloodhound team recently visited the UK Prime Minister, David Cameron, at Downing Street and had a mock-up on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The aim of the project is to go to South Africa by June 2014 to break the land speed record. The team will then return to South Africa in late 2015 and attempt to break the historic 1,000mph barrier.
