Monothane from HMG Paints and distributed by Autopaint, is a product making a big impact at the moment saving users time and money when refinishing commercial vehicles, especially chassis and sub-frames, as well as catering for a wide range of other paint applications.

The product is a 2K Polyurethane Finish that offers a good gloss level and excellent durability and corrosion resistance. However, the major benefit of Monothane is that it can be applied direct to metal without the need for a primer. This means it can be applied straight on to mild steel, shot blasted steel, aluminium, galvanised steel, castings and difficult-to-paint substrates like uPVC, polystyrene, GRP and sheet-moulded composites plastic, without the need for a plastic primer.

Autopaint demonstrator Tony McGowan says, "Monothane users find that cutting out the priming stage saves a huge amount of paint process time and reduces the cost of materials very significantly. This makes it a very profitable paint to use and it also delivers great long lasting finish quality.”

The topcoat can be mixed in a very wide range of colour formulations including all industry standard colours. Tony adds, "Monothane's pigment quality and high film build enable most paint jobs to be carried out in a single stage. It can also be force dried in as little as 20 minutes further speeding up the painting process.”

Monothane also offers great flexibility in application in that it can be applied by airless, air-assisted, conventional gravity and HVLR spray guns, or even through brush application.

Monothane is available from Autopaint outlets in Dundalk, Roscommon and Swords. For more information visit www.autopaint.ie
