Gates gives guidance on spotting hose failure

Gates has put together a new guide on how to spot and prevent coolant hose failures, which can be downloaded for free.

The company says engine compartments are becoming smaller and the range of coolant hose applications is expanding with hoses now coming in all shapes and sizes. They carry coolant to a variety of under-bonnet equipment and are outfitted with connectors and sensors. With these newer modular coolant hoses come new issues to be aware of and potential new reasons for replacement. This is compounded by the fact that not all failure modes are easy to spot and leakage is no longer the only problem issue.

Gates says its new quick guide will help mechanics spot and prevent failures, including the less obvious ones. It covers subject such as:
  • The expanded use of modular coolant hoses
  • The evolution in hose clamps and connectors
  • Successfully inspecting traditional and modular coolant hoses
  • Spotting the signs that indicate that a hose needs to be replaced
