One of many vehicles that had seen little use due to the Covid lockdown, this 2005 Ford Focus 1.6 had been left standing for an extended period of time. It’s owner had been furloughed for the period of lockdown and had not used the car for some time.
Sitting for the extended duration of inactivity, the battery had been allowed to go flat. After a jump start, the Focus was up and running. Other than a few noises from the brakes when they were first used, the owner thought that everything was ok.
It was only when she came in to see me prior to the NCT that I pointed out the poor condition that the brakes were in. The disc’s had corroded quite badly and the area cleaned by the brake pad once in use again was minimal.
New brake discs and pads were needed, to ensure that this Focus would meet the requirements of NCT, as well as safe driving.
