Yugo to make 2027 return

Motoring enthusiasts often get excited about the return of an old marque or model name, but it is doubtful that many have been calling for the return of the Yugo.

The eastern European car provided cheap and cheerful small cars in the 80’s and 90’s, but last made a vehicle in 2008. It is now set for a return and has been showing a scale model of a hatchback it intends to put into production in 2027.

Details of the new model, including the name, have yet to be confirmed, but the design seems to be true to the Yugo tradition, being compact, boxy and simple.

At present the new Yugo owners say the car will be available with a petrol engine, although an EV option is possible.
