British sports car maker Lotus is reminding motoring enthusiasts about its great Formula 1 legacy with a new special edition of its Emiras model.

Older readers will remember how Lotus competed at the front of F1 grid for decades, before withdrawing from the premier motorsport competition, which was, believe it, or not, 31 years ago. One of the teams most iconic seasons was 1965, when Scot Jim Clark won the world championship in the Lotus 25, winning six out of ten rounds. He also won the Indy 500 that year in a Lotus for good measure.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of this iconic season, Lotus is producing a limited run of Clark Edition Lotus Emiras. Created in association with the Jim Clark Trust, 60 cars will be produced and finished in the racing livery of the time, of racing green with distinctive yellow detail.

The cars are powered by a six-speed, 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine that produces 400bhp. Each will also have a Lotus Driver’s pack featuring sport suspension, Track mode and a tuned exhaust note. The whole package will cost around £115,000.
