Audi is making low energy, high intensity LEDs available across the board for all Audi models and is also introducing new laser lighting technology to its range in the form of laser spotlights for the new generation R8 supercar. These offer double the range of a normal high beam light.

Audi has been a leader in automotive lighting innovation over recent years. For example, the Audi Matrix LED unit maintains a constant high beam without dazzling incoming traffic, while also providing maximum illumination on the road. The unit is able to operate fully electronically, without any mechanical parts as individual light-emitting diodes in each unit can be instantly lit individually or dimmed, therefore diverting the beam around oncoming vehicles. Models that are equipped with Matrix LED also feature front and rear dynamic indicators which 'sweep' sequentially in the direction in which the driver intends to travel.
