SATA was, as always, one of the must see stands in the Automechanika Bodyshop section, with visitors keen to get up close to the very latest spray guns and equipment.

As well as the team providing advice on the stand and showing the latest products, SATA also provided live demonstrations of the innovative new jet X DIGITAL pro spray gun which was first show at Automechanika Frankfurt. Since then it has making a big impact with bodyshops across Europe, taking spray technology to new levels of performance and efficiency.

SATA UK MD Matt Stevens was on hand to talk about the gun, while Wayne Beardmore of Damage Undone was asking the questions. Meanwhile Russell Jacob was in the portable spraybooth demonstrating how easy it is to achieve a perfect finish with the gun.

With its distinctive black and red design, the new gun not only looks different it also performs very  differently to conventional guns. The jet X DIGITAL pro features very innovative nozzle technology which sets new standards in atomisation. The labyrinth airflow system invented by SATA, guides the air in the nozzle so that it exits free of turbulence and pulsation. This enables the painter to achieve exceptionally fine and homogeneous atomisation and a new level of surface finish quality, as well as significant material savings. The spray pattern remains absolutely uniform over its entire height and has clearly defined fade-out zones.

Matt was also able to explain the gun’s advanced digital features including a display of inlet flow pressure as well as displaying any deviations from the target pressure set and information on the ambient temperature and battery status. The digital unit also records details of the spraying process which allows a paintshop to analyse and fine tune, with a record of operating hours, painting time and the number of trigger pulls. This data can be transferred to a digital dashboard on a PC or smartphone and in this way it can be analysed, which is especially useful in reducing expensive material usage.

Other useful jet X features include a quick release trigger, requiring no separate tools and an integrated spanner for removing the paint nozzle.

jet X DIGITAL pro is available from SATA stockists.
