Somora Motor Parts has announced that it is now stocking a comprehensive range of OEM quality Electronic Fuel Feed/Sender Units from Hitachi.

On most modern-day vehicles, these fuel feed units are mounted inside the fuel tank and supply petrol or diesel through the fuel filter to the engine. Alternatively on some HDI/GDI engines the fuel is fed to a high pressure pump which then supplies the injectors.

Many of these units are prone to failure over time with reasons including; general wear and tear, clogged or dirty fuel filters, especially in diesel engines, poor fuel quality, or a build up of sediment and debris in the tank. Another major issue is the practice of letting a tank run too low, or on reserve. This can cause a fuel pump to overheat as the unburnt fuel acts as coolant for the pump while it is operating.

There are some key signs that a fuel pump is starting to fail which include; noticeable “whining” or "humming" noise from the tank area, reduced engine performance, due to lower than optimal fuel pressure, misfires that are not remedied by changing ignition parts and random engine stalls. A failing pump can also cause starting issues due to lack of pressure especially when cold and will mean that fuel flow is not properly regulated leading to more fuel consumption and higher emissions. All of these symptoms will gradually worsen over time, leading to complete failure of the fuel pump and possible vehicle breakdown.

The easy solution is timely replacement of the feeder unit. Somora is now stocking a range of OE quality, Hitachi replacements, which are competitively priced and offer a 5 year warranty. These are brand new, complete units and not rebuilt or refurbished. They offer a convenient, direct fit solution straight from the box without the need for any modifications. Depending on application they include all the required fitting accessories such as; electrical connections, professionally soldered wiring, fuel level sender and float, “Swirl-Pot”, gauze-mesh filters, pipes and tubes.

The Hitachi range has 80 part numbers covering most popular petrol and diesel models and is fully detailed on TecDoc, with fitting instructions and connection images. It is also detailed on Somora.ie.
