LIQUI MOLY has offered garages some timely advice on how they can turn standard oil changes into high margin special services with the use of its products.

Oil changes are important to bring in business, but tend to be low margin and are also offered by every garage business. However, with little effort, LIQUI MOLY says the standard service can be turned into a special service that not only earns a higher margin but also makes customers more loyal to their ‘own’ garage.

The company has developed the ‘performance oil change’, a simple and effective three stage process.

In the first step, Engine Flush from LIQUI MOLY is added to the old motor oil immediately before the oil change. It contains highly effective cleaning agents that dissolve deposits and sludge. The engine is then left running at idle for 10-15 minutes. All the dirt that has accumulated over many thousands of kilometres is then drained together with the used oil.

After this the correct specification of oil for the engine must be added in line with vehicle manufacturer guidance. Oil is now more of a liquid spare part that has to fit the respective engine exactly. Using the wrong oil is like installing the wrong replacement part. The consequences range from increased wear and tear to problems with the exhaust gas treatment and even major engine damage.  With the oil guide at www.liqui-moly.com, technicians only have to enter make, model and engine to receive a list of suitable oils.

In the third step, Cera Tec is added to the fresh motor oil after the oil change. This is a wear protection additive by LIQUI MOLY that protects the engine twofold. First, chemically, through so-called friction modifiers, which smooth the metal surfaces in the engine and compensate for microscopically small unevennesses. Second, physically, because Cera Tec contains tiny ceramic particles, which are protectively deposited on metal surfaces and reduce direct metal-to-metaL contact. Both approaches reduce friction in the motor. This allows the engine to put more power on the road while consuming less fuel. Less friction also means less wear and thus fewer repairs and a longer service life. Cera Tec also improves the emergency running properties, so that the engine is protected for a while even in the event of oil loss.

LIQUI MOLY says these three simple steps turn a standard service into a high margin special service which generates additional turnover, makes the garage stand out from competitors and creates happy and loyal customers.
