Toyota Programme can help combat winter write-offs

Darker evenings and winter weather can often cause a spike in accidents over the Christmas period and in to the New Year. This usually means more vehicles written off, but Toyota is urging anyone involved in the body repair business, to always explore different repair options, before accepting that a customer’s car cannot be economically put back on the road.

The Toyota Write-Off Avoidance Programme can allow repairers, insurers and local Toyota dealer parts departments, to work together to ensure that borderline write-offs are repaired and kept on the road. The programme targets Toyota vehicles that have been in an accident and are classified as uneconomical repairs. Through additional parts discounts, qualifying cars can often be repaired, bringing benefits to all parties.

The programme has been very well received by bodyshops, who are generally impressed by how quick and easy it is to administer the process. It can then provide a boost for a bodyshop’s repair volume, by providing additional jobs that they would not normally have secured.
Toyota drivers have also reacted very positively to the programme, as they will often get to keep their own car and are not left out of pocket by a lower than expected insurance valuation, which can often be the case with a  written off vehicle.

The Toyota Write-Off Avoidance Programme was developed by the Toyota Aftersales team and has allowed Toyota dealers across Ireland, working with repairers and insurers, to save many cars that otherwise may have been scrapped. It allows for the use of genuine Toyota parts in the repairs, meaning the quality and safety of the repair is never compromised and there are also important environmental benefits through a reduction in waste.

Bodyshops dealing with a marginal uneconomical repair on a Toyota vehicle estimate over the winter months and beyond, are encouraged to contact their Toyota dealer parts department and explore the possibilities that the Write-Off Avoidance Programme may be able to offer.
