The new menace of the roads

The new menace of the roads

Many motorists associate a particular type of car with a particular type of driver. For example in the past drivers of BMWs and 4x4s could often be seen by some as impatient and arrogant in driving situations. But now it seems there is a far less obvious car of choice for the road menace.

A new survey by Privilege car insurance in the UK has found that the most annoying drivers on the road are now behind the wheel of a silver Honda. Those surveyed said that Honda drivers were most likely to pass on the inside, pull out in front of other drivers, fail to indicate and use a mobile phone while driving. They are even the most likely to splash innocent pedestrians by driving through puddles according to the poll.

The image of BMW drivers, its seems, has changed dramatically in recent years, as they only came out on top in 2 of the 20 annoying driving categories.

Charlotte Fielding, Head of Privilege car insurance, said that the light-hearted survey did have a serious message as inconsiderate and careless driving are two of the main causes of accidents. She comments, “A great deal of careless driving is down to people being tired at the wheel or being in a rush, so all motorists should remember to take breaks and drive at a safe speed. It’s better to get there safely than not at all, or perhaps worse still, injure another road user in the process.”
