NGK launched several new product and service initiatives at Automechanika as well as a new corporate branding identity.

Pride of place on the stand was a new range of sensors under the NTK Vehicle Electronics brand that is set to combine Mass Air Flow Sensors (MAF), Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensors (Map) and Boost Pressure Sensors within a single offering. NGK research indicates that 89% of vehicles in Europe are fitted with a MAP or MAF sensor meaning demand in this sector for replacements is growing fast, but up to now premium quality replacement options were limited. With 350 part numbers, the new NTK range offers excellent coverage and good business opportunities.

Mark Hallam, NGK Marketing Manager says that the new NTK offering comprises both sensor types and simplifies ordering and stock-keeping. It offers solutions for 93% of in-demand products which is the highest coverage available. A clever numbering system allows for easy identification and provides additional information about the sensor technology and type, while on package QR codes offer a direct link to clear fitting instructions.

The range covers 190 part numbers for Mass Air Flow sensors. These include 165 sensor types with housing as well as 20 plug-in sensor types which reflect the latest OE developments. The company is also offering 5 aftermarket plug-in types covering 77 best-selling types of housing. The remaining 160 part numbers are Intake Air Pressure Sensors, including 91 Manifold Pressure Sensors, 58 Boost Pressure Sensors and 11 Manifold and Boost Pressure Sensors all in true OE quality. Initially the range will be lauched in the UK and Ireland with 200 part numbers in the new year.

Another major initiative introduced in Frankfurt was NGK Spark Plug’s new "TekniWiki” online platform. This is an open Internet platform to make a wide range of technical content available to workshop personnel, educational institutions and anyone with a general interest in ignition and sensor technology. The site bundles all technical information concerning the NGK and NTK brands under one umbrella. It has four navigation areas; "Technical Know-how” hosts NGK Spark Plug’s e-learning application including interactive courses about NGK and NTK products, the "Download” section, features catalogues and brochures, "Videos” lists all technical videos from NGK’s YouTube channel and "News” informs users about the latest information from the world of the NGK Ignition Parts and NTK Vehicle Electronics brands.

The TekniWiki is available at www.tekniwiki.com as desktop, tablet and mobile version and in 15 languages.

Automechanika also saw the introduction of new logos and corporate images under the NGK Ignition Parts and NTK Vehicle Electronics brands.
