Oil, additive and car care specialist, Liqui Moly has highlighted how its special additives can often provide fast and effective repair solutions to many common workshop problems.

David Kaiser, Head of Research and Development at LIQUI MOLY says, "Additives are chemical tools that can solve lots of problems faster, more easily and more cheaply than mechanical solutions can. For this reason they should be in every professional's toolbox.”

To illustrate this point, David provides several example of how LIQUI MOLY products have provided simple solutions that could otherwise been seen as complex, time consuming problems.

In one instance a car's engine was not running and an investigation found that this was due to a clogged air inlet. Exhaust gas recirculation had caused it to become so coated in deposits that the air flow to the engine was seriously impaired. Normally this would require the air intake system to be dismantled and cleaned by hand. However, LIQUI MOLY is able to provide a much simpler solution. For petrol engines a spray of Throttle Valve Cleaner, or Intake System Cleaner for diesel engines, into the intake tract will clear the problem and allow the engine to run. These products have active cleaning agents which will remove even the most stubborn residues.

A further example David provides is an old diesel car producing excess emissions. He says the cause is often encrustation of the injectors meaning that the fuel in the combustion chamber is no longer being finely atomized. This, in turn, means that dirty fuel is burnt, resulting in even more deposits. LIQUI MOLY's Diesel Smoke Stop gets rid of the encrustation and so improves fuel consumption. This also results in significantly improved emission levels.

The last example David offered concerned changing the oil in a car with high mileage. Over time, lots of deposits build up in the oil circuit. Here LIQUI MOLY's engine flush can provide highly effective cleaning. Used just prior to the oil change, it will dissolve dirt and suspend it in the old oil which is then drained. The new oil then enters a clean engine and can deploy its full performance.

David says these examples illustrate how additives can provide technical solutions for everyday problems in a garage. They are also easy to integrate into daily operations, are cost effective, offer attractive margins and can boost customer satisfaction.
