The Sony Group is considering entry into the electric vehicle market and is currently setting up a subsidiary to examine the possibilities. Sony chairman and president, Kenichiro Yoshida said the group are exploring a commercial launch of electric vehicles which would build on company expertise in electronics, entertainment and sensors. He commented, "With our imaging and sensing, cloud, 5G and entertainment technologies combined with our contents mastery, we believe Sony is well positioned as a creative entertainment company to redefine mobility." 

The latest Sony VISION-S 02 is an SUV, uses an electric vehicle platform developed for the VISION-S 01 coupe in 2020.
