There was a huge turnout at the RIAC National Classic Car Show which took place at the RDS in Dublin at the weekend.

The event featured over 250 classic, post-vintage, vintage and veteran cars as well as motorbikes from 40 Classic Car Clubs, as well as many of Ireland’s leading Collectors. There was also an Irish Grand Prix Pit Stop celebrating over a 100 years of motorsport, an AutoJumble and over 70 Stands featuring car care products, accessories, parts, tools, equipment  and motoring services.

All kinds of cars were on display ranging from 1920’s motorsport classics the Mercedes-Benz SSK, and Bentley Speed 6, to a 1950’s Heinkel Bubble car. On a more contemporary note the RIAC Stand featured a Ferrari F40 and Lamborghini Gallardo.

One of the undoubted stars of the show was the enormous Bloodhound SS, a car designed to break the 1,000 mph barrier and set a new Land Speed Record. Project Leader Richard also made an appearance at the event and there was even a simulator designed to give some idea of what travelling at over 1,000 mph on land is like. Richard is already the fastest man in the world on land having hit 763mph in 1997 in his Thrust SSC car.
