Autoinform Live, the interactive training event for the independent aftermarket, returned to GTG Training Academy in Wolverhampton last weekend, marking the first time the event has been staged since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hundreds of technicians and garage owners attended from all parts of the UK, as well as a healthy contingent from Ireland, reflecting the pent-up demand for practical automotive training and information on developing technology.

Combining practical, on vehicle, training sessions and demonstrations with sit down seminars, industry experts from various organisations and OE suppliers spoke about the very latest developments in automotive technology and how these will impact on the aftermarket. Many of those attending also enjoyed a chance to socialise and network at the Saturday night Gala Dinner.

Those attend were split into groups and each provided with a tailored programme of seminars to reflect their particular areas of interest. A wide variety of subject matter was covered including; Double Clutch Systems, The High Voltage Pathway, ADAS, Euro 6 SCR AdBlue, Brake & Chassis System Technology, battery replacement, AC Systems, NVH Testing, Engine Diagnostics using pressure measurements, Clutch Innovations, Timing Belt & Wheel Bearing best practice, Auxiliary systems and Thermal management.

Trainers came from a combination of OE suppliers, industry training organisations and garages and included well know names such as Frank Massey, Tom Denton, James Dillon and Hayley Pells

As well as the actual training sessions there were also stands from various OESAA suppliers displaying the latest tools and OE parts, as well as the opportunity to meet old friends and to network after the long break in the event schedule.

Reaction to the whole event was very positive with both trainers and delegates keen to get back to the business of rising to new service and repair challenges in a fast changing aftermarket.
