Charlie McLaughlin RIP

It is with great sadness that Autobiz learned of the passing of Charlie McLaughlin, who died on St. Patrick’s Day. Charlie was a true gentleman, a devoted father, and a cornerstone of the Irish motor trade, who was much liked and respected. He was the founder of McLaughlin Car Dismantlers, one of the largest and most respected VW, Audi, Skoda and SEAT breakers in Ireland, based in Donegal.

His family says that he was a man known not only for building a successful business, but for the way he did it, with honesty, fairness and respect. He helped many a person over the years, near and far, whether it was a hard-to-find car part or a bit of sound advice. He never turned anyone away and always had time for a chat or helping hand.

Charlie was one of the original subscribers to Crash Cars Monthly, which later became Autobiz. His family say that he never missed an issue and kept every magazine throughout the years. It wasn’t just a publication to him, but a true reflection of the trade.

His family are proud to continue his legacy. McLaughlin Car Dismantlers will carry on with the same dedication, integrity, and quality service that he built his name on.

His family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to everyone across Ireland who called to their home, sent flowers, messages, cards, or took the time to pay their respects. The kindness and support of everyone brought great comfort to the family.
