After a delayed start, the British Truck Racing Association Championship is now set return on the weekend of August 22nd and 23rd at Donington Park. One team keen to get off the grid are Newell & Wright Motorsport, which is supported by TMD Friction through its Textar brand.

As part of the agreement, John Newell’s 5-tonne MAN truck will be fitted with Textar brake pads and discs and see the team continue its close working relationship with Textar as a technical partner. The team says that Textar braking enables Newell to brake later and stop quicker than other drivers, giving the driver a competitive edge.

Textar also offers other benefits, as with most teams having to change their pads over the course of the weekend, Textar’s last the entire weekend programme of four races. Data gathered from its onboard telemetry system also provides information from previous pad temperature readings so the team can calculate the accurate braking distances required for the upcoming race.

John Newell said, “We can’t wait to get back out there on the track. Although it may be slightly different to what fans are used to, it’s going to be a very competitive season, which makes for more exciting racing for the drivers and spectators, and we’ve been putting in the work to ensure we’re fully prepared when the weekend comes.”
