TMD Friction, via its Mintex brand, has donated supplies to Bridgwater & Taunton College, in Somerset, after it was left devastated by a fire in its motor workshop. The equipment and training resources offered by TMD Friction will ensure the college can get back on track with training the next generation of automotive technicians.

The fire affected two of the college’s automotive workshops at the Bridgwater campus leaving the students without a place to train and study. After learning about the incident, TMD Friction jumped at the chance to support the college.

Scott Irwin, MIMI Head of Technical Training at TMD Friction, explains, “We were shocked to hear about the fire at Bridgwater & Taunton college. Training is absolutely essential in the industry and having the right supplies and support is key. TMD Friction are committed to providing training and resources for future automotive technicians.”

Equipment gifted by TMD Friction includes a touch screen TV and wall mount, friction material display board, braking tools, LED hand torches, screwdrivers, information posters, samples of friction material for brakes training, support required for staff CPD and factory tours.

Vinnie Maisey, Curriculum Manager Automotive at Bridgwater & Taunton College, comments, “We are very appreciative of the support shown to us by the automotive sector since the incident, especially TMD Friction and their generous offer of resources and training. This will in turn help us to get our workshops back up and running to the high standard previously achieved before the fire and improve both staff and students experiences within their respective teaching environment.”

Vinnie added, “The CPD offered by TMD Friction will also be significant to keep our staff trained in modern technologies. This allows us to keep our students progressing, understanding new techniques and technology advancements.”
