Remote trouble on an Opel Zafira How could this remote key have ever worked?
Share:

One of my regulars had just bought a Opel Zafira, as a replacement workhorse for his painting and decorating business. The previous estate had been long overdue a replacement, and a failed head gasket finally sent it to the scrap yard.

The motor didn’t need to be tidy as the constant in and out with paint cans and brushes would ensure that the motor would not stay pretty very long, but a car was a better option for the owner than a van.

He was pleased with his bargain basement motor, which was a 2004 Zafira with the 1.8 engine. It was a nice drive and came with two keys. Which the seller had told him were both fully working. But would probably need new batteries as the remote had stopped working a while ago and they had never bothered to replace the batteries.

I carry the small CR batteries in stock and so opened up the first key and fitted the battery, I then opened up the second key and found that it was totally empty, no printed circuit and no battery holder. If this key had ever worked it could only have been by divine intervention!
