The days of struggling and straining to see the tyre pressure gauge at a garage could soon be over. German tyre manufacturer Continental, is introducing new technology, that will allow tyre-pressure monitoring systems to send data straight to your mobile phone and says it will enhance driving safety and fuel efficiency.
Even with gauges now having audible warnings, it can often be difficult to see or hear when the proper pressure is reached and there are sometimes question marks over the accuracy of public devices. The Continental "Filling Assistant", uses sensors in the tyres to detect air pressure and transmits this information to the phone. This, the makers say, makes it more accurate and reliable than present measuring systems.
Continental say the Filling Assistant will be seen on new vehicles from 2013.
