Two-time European Rallycross Champion Derek Tohill and the PFCRX rallycross team continued their year of learning in the FIA European Rallycross Championship Supercar category at Hell in Norway at the weekend.

Competing in the PartsforCars sponsored 600bhp Ford Fiesta Supercar, Derek set progressively faster lap times over the course of the four qualifying races to end the event 17th overall, a position that did not reflect the pace of the team and driver over a single lap in the highly competitive division.

Derek said, “It was a tough weekend in Hell. We found some good pace from the car, but I made a couple of mistakes in Q2 on the first day. We were very happy with our sector times in Q3 and Q4, but the overall lap time wasn’t great because we got caught in the dust. If we were in clear air, we could have been in the top six based on those times. That was a disappointing end to the event, but we have made progress.” He added, The car’s in reasonable shape and we’re looking forward to the next event at the ‘mecca of rallycross’ in Sweden.”

The next round of the Euro RX championship takes place at Holjes, Sweden in three weeks time (July 1 – 2), a circuit at which Derek and the team have been victorious in the TouringCar category.
