Morgan has unveiled its new hydrogen-powered vision of the future.

Called the Lifecar, the two-seater concept has advanced fuel cell technology, which converts hydrogen into electricity.

It uses four fuel cell batteries to produce 30bhp to run electric motor power to all four wheels. It also reclaims energy from braking, producing more electricity that is fed back into super-capacitors stored in the transmission tunnel. These then boost the car’s power when accelerating. The makers say the reclaim system is highly efficient capturing some 50% of braking energy, compared to only 10% on a Toyota Prius. Morgan also claim a top speed of nearly 100mph and a 0-60mph time of less than eight seconds. The car itself is never intended to make production, however elements of the technology are being considered for future models in the Morgan range.
