The PureTech engine from the PSA Group succeeded in combining the power of a 1.6-liter engine with the economy of a 1.2-liter unit. It was fitted across practically all of the group’s product range and was named Engine of the Year four times in succession between 2015 and 2018. Consequently, there are a huge number of vehicles with this engine on Irish roads. Many of these are now arriving at workshops to have their timing belts replaced.
To make this repair easier, Continental offers PRO Kits CT1228K3PRO and CT1228K4PRO. They provide workshop professionals with everything they need to change the timing belt on the PureTech engine, including: tensioner and idler pulley, various gaskets for timing cover and cylinder head cover, the crankshaft bolt and two bolts for the camshafts. These are in the box along with the V-ribbed belt (ELAST belt) for the water pump.
The CT1228K3PRO and CT1228K4PRO kits have been specially designed for the turbocharged engines in this engine series. Continental says that thanks to their compromise-free quality, they come with a five-year guarantee for registered workshops. Continental say they are already working on kits for the naturally aspirated PureTech engines.
