According to the results of the 2010 DuPont Global Automotive Colour Popularity Report, silver and black are still in tight competition as the leading global vehicle colour.

The report shows that only two percentage points separate silver (26%) from black (24%), as the leading vehicle colour globally. White, white pearl and grey tie for third place, and red, in fifth place and increasing in popularity, is the only non-neutral colour in the top five global colours.

In Europe, black, and black effect colours, lead the board overall across nearly all vehicle categories with 24%. Grey is now the second choice colour overall, with 19% per cent, and silver has dropped into third place, with 17% popularity across Europe. There are, however, exceptions to this: for example grey dominates in the intermediate and MPV (multi purpose vehicle) segment, but only by a slight margin.
