Abrasives specialist Mirka enjoyed a very busy Automechanika Birmingham show. Much of the focus of attention from the many customers and potential customers visiting the stand was on the Mirka range of Non Corrosive solutions that can effectively eliminate cross-contamination in the bodyshop environment.

Mirka is now offering a comprehensive range of Non Corrosive (NC) abrasive solutions in kit form that are designed specifically to meet the increasing demands from the automotive sector and enable the compliant surface preparation of corrosion sensitive materials.

The range is suitable for the sanding of aluminium and painted aluminium parts and this is possible due to significantly lower heavy metal content than the corresponding traditional abrasives that contain iron, chromium and copper.

Mirka’s new Non Corrosive range is available in three levels of Solutions Kit:

A complete kit comprising a Mirka trolley, OS and PROS pneumatic sanders, Abranet ® discs and strips, Gold discs, Mirlon pads, a sanding block kit and hose, and a guide coat, which can be housed in the aluminium bay and keeps everything separate to avoid cross-contamination;

Also available is a full kit containing all the same abrasives, tools and accessories but without the trolley; and a refill kit which includes just the abrasives and accessories designed to meet the needs of bodyshop who have already invested in aluminium repair equipment.

Craig Daycock, Managing Director of Mirka says, “For aluminium repair, it is vital to weld and repair vehicles in a self-contained working environment to avoid airborne steel dust particles corrupting the aluminium, leading to surface deterioration.  Carrying out repairs in a dedicated aluminium repair bay and using our NC range will eliminate potentially harmful contaminants and also improve efficiencies and add value for the bodyshop.”
