iCar in the pipeline?

They adopted the Mac, are glued to their iPad and queue for the latest version of the phone. Now it seems Apple fans could soon be driving around in the iCar. It has long been rumoured that Apple will enter the automotive sector at some stage and although there has been no official confirmation, Apple investor Carl Icahn stated that Apple will enter the automobile market in 2020 with a unique car which he termed the “the ultimate mobile device.”

It now seems the world’s richest company is getting serious snapping up some of the most talented automotive professionals around to develop the project. Most recently the technology giant has hired a number of engineers from A123 an electric car battery manufacturer that supplies power packs for the BMW 7 Series Hybrid. It also seems that the Apple team has been talking to electric car company Tesla Motors, although what has been discussed remains a closely guarded secret.

Last September Apple also brought on-board an internet-connected car and autonomous driving specialist from Mercedes Benz and more recently a senior Fiat-Chrysler Group executive.

The chances are this specialist automotive and battery power team are not working on a new watch design and in as little as five years the iCar is likely to be a road going reality. If you are one of the many in the iMust-have group, then best start saving now, as with any I device you can no doubt expect a premium price.
