PPG has launched a new product innovation, which it says is good news for refinishers and good news for the environment.

PPG Waterborne Clearcoat D8186 features the very latest environmentally friendly technology, to allow bodyshops to demonstrate their commitment to reducing solvent emissions, without compromising the quality of the repair.

Combined with a dedicated hardener and thinner, the D8186 Waterborne Clearcoat provides enhanced flow and appearance, making it even easier to achieve a top quality result. The clearcoat is simple to mix and easy to use, benefitting from a ‘one visit’ application process. Combining this ease of application with a superb finish ensures a quality reproduction of OEM finish.

Using PPG Waterborne Clearcoat, together with ENVIROBASE high performance basecoats and Enviro Primer Surfacer provides a complete ‘green’ solution to bodyshops, that are environmentally conscious and demand premium-quality repairs with maximum throughput.

A leading UK refinisher, Rick Kerry from Ipswich Accident Repair Centre has been very impressed with the attributes of the new waterborne clearcoat. He commented, “We are proud to be part of the green scene. We have been using PPG Waterborne Basecoats for a number of years and have had nothing but excellent results. Our cycle times have reduced, our productivity has increased and most importantly, we have been able to meet our ever growing customers’ awareness for green eco-friendly products.” He added, “We are especially impressed with the new Waterborne Clearcoat which has further allowed us to improve our throughput due to the ease of application and excellent drying times, surprisingly it smells great too!”
