Toyota lays claim to manufacturer “the best built cars in the world,” so when Swinford Motors, the Toyota Dealer in Swinford Co. Mayo, set out to choose another two-car transporter you would naturally expect their choice to reflect this quality philosophy. As it happened, the only name in the frame to supply the vehicle and equipment was specialist bodybuilder Roger Dyson.
As Managing Director Pat Kelly explained, “Nobody builds a body like Roger. We’ve been buying Dyson units for some years now and they are always superb. The build quality, reliability and the way they stand up to years of hard work are way ahead of the competition.” He adds, “We bought one unit from Roger in 1997, which we then sold on in 2004, it’s still running strongly today, and looks as good as ever.”
On this occasion Swinford Motors have just taken delivery of a brand new Dyson Hydraloader 3000La, which has a 3000kg capacity, low approach sliding bed mounted on a 5.0-tonne Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 518CDI chassis. After fabricating and
fitting the body, technicians at Roger Dyson’s factory in Droitwich, Worcestershire, also sprayed the vehicle in Swinford’s eye-catching red and silver colours, and completed the job by applying the livery.
The name Swinford Motors dates back to 1930 and the company was bought by Pat Kelly and his wife Nora in 1970. They sold their first Toyota three years later and have represented the brand in the Mayo area ever since. They also have two other outlets in the County in Ballina and Castlebar, operating under the Autopoint banner.
