With increased vehicle complexity demanding an ongoing investment in new equipment and training, yet repair volume squeezed and profit margins tight, it is vital that whenever a bodyshop spends on new equipment it is getting good value and the prospect of a good return. This is something that Stephen Reeves of Stephen Reeves Auto Crash Repairs & Towing in Balrath, Co. Meath believes he has achieved with the purchase of a new Blackhawk welding system.

Stephen has been running the business for 21 years and has always been prepared to invest in new bodyshop technology to ensure repair efficiency. Today he operates the business from a spacious workshop with a team of 5 staff.

Stephen comments, “With the variety of new materials and bonding techniques used in vehicle construction we felt it was important to invest in the very latest welding technology. After researching the options we settled on the Blackhawk WEL15000 and we have not been disappointed.

The unit is 12000 Amp, 3 phase medium frequency, inverter technology, microprocessor-controlled resistance spot welder that offers excellent flexibility and gives great results on HSS, boron and galvanized metals. Stephen says, “This really is a big step up from a traditional spot welder. It is light,  quick to set up and easy to use.  We got it back in June and have been delighted with how it has performed. It really is efficient and reliable with no problem with heads, stopping or overheating. You can just weld away and get the job done.”

Stephen says that he has also received great back up from Blackhawk distributor Theo English, who first installed and demonstrated the system.

The Blackhawk Welder now forms part of the comprehensive range of equipment available at the Meath bodyshop, meaning the experienced team can tackle just about any repair or paint job. Indeed they have applied their skills to a variety of interesting recent projects including; a McLaren road car, specially imported US custom Jeep and even a large scale truck model. The business also uses it paint expertise in other areas such as kitchen restoration.

Continuing the diversified theme Stephen and the team also offer a full vehicle recovering service and special vehicle transportation for vintage, modified and race cars.

To arrange a demonstration of Blackhawk welding systems or for more information on the complete Blackhawk range call Theo on 087-966-1320.
