As the number of electrically powered and hybrid vehicles grows, so does the demand for the right spare parts. To meet demand, Continental has available adjustable auxiliary water pumps for intelligent thermal management.

Electric and hybrid vehicles will be an increasingly common sight in workshops in the future. Although the number of vehicles with e-drive systems is still low compared to the total number of vehicles, there is a clear upward trend.

Thermal management poses a particular challenge in fully or partially battery-powered vehicles, because for the battery to remain efficient in the long term, it must be kept at a certain operating temperature. The complex thermal management in these vehicles is handled by several individual water pumps, each of which is responsible for cooling a different system. For example, if the water pump for the passenger compartment heater fails, only that pump has to be replaced, the battery cooling system remains unaffected. These auxiliary water pumps are individually adjustable, so they provide exactly the amount of coolant required for each system.

The Continental programme now features 17 types of adjustable auxiliary water pumps for electric and hybrid vehicles, with the bracket and the heat protection element included if required, saving on fitting time. All water pumps are manufactured in Germany in the usual OE quality, and as always they have a 5-year guarantee for workshops that are registered them.

These water pumps are available from Continental stockists.
