Whats on the TVD?
Share:

With workshops under ever more pressure to offer customers value for money, one range of parts from your motor factor that can do just that is TVDs. Torsional Vibration Dampers , or crankshaft pulleys, are often assumed to only be available via main dealers. However, a range of over 300 references is now available from factors, offering great saving to the workshops without compromising on quality.

Modern engines produce more torsional crankshaft vibrations than before, especially on diesel engines which have to meet strict euro emission regulations. These vibrations can lead to excessive bearing wear, accessory belt wear or even engine damage. TVDs are crankshaft pulleys with a rubber damper element that play a key role in reducing this vibration. This rubber element is subject to wear, so these components will require periodic replacement.

A worn TVD’s often mean vibrations, belt noise and excessive wear of drive components. In some instances it can also mean failure of the overrunning alternator pulley and the alternator itself.

Replacing crank pulleys makes sound sense from both the garage and motorist perspective and with high quality economical replacements available from motor factors, finding the right replacements is easier than ever before.
