Continental offers more durable metal water pump solutions

Power transmission specialist Continental is now offering selected water pumps as part of its timing belt kits + water pump packages with a more durable metal housing.

Car makers often use plastics for vehicle components because they are more economical and lighter. Water pump housings are now increasingly made from polyurethane, but over time, as a result of temperature fluctuations in the engine compartment, this material becomes brittle and cracks. For this reason Continental is now offering water pumps with metal housing in some kits including the popular CT 1143WP2 and CT 1143WP3 timing belt kits + water pump for popular Audi and VW applications.

These parts are made of lightweight die-cast aluminium and are significantly tougher and more durable than the OE component. The dimensions are exactly the same which means the fitter can install the housing without further modifications. The workshop can also offer its customers a more durable high quality solution. In addition to the power transmission belt and the water pump, the kit also contains the thermostat and the coolant sensor. Consequently, the fitter has all the necessary components quickly and conveniently to hand.

As with all components for the automotive aftermarket, Continental offers registered workshops a 5-year guarantee on these products.
