John Mickel has become the UK Legends Champion 2017 taking the racing series title at Brands Hatch. This marked his fourth year of winning, the last three being back to back championships. He is also double World Legends champion.

John had to fight hard for the title at the Kent circuit. He commented, “I planned my race strategy carefully. The important thing was to finish each race and to stay close enough to my rival Ben Power to maintain the points lead. Saturday was wet and conditions were treacherous but I managed to avoid trouble and maintain my lead which dropped to 150 points by the end of the day.”

On the Sunday of the meeting sparks were flying as John survived two close calls with several cars losing control around him. He kept Ben Power close and the championship went down to the very last race of the season.  He said, “I managed to keep my cool and use every ounce of my experience and skill to bring my car just behind Ben Power but crucially still in front on the points. It was my toughest and closest championship so far, which makes the win all the more satisfying.”

John’s bright orange car is sponsored by K-Seal Permanent Coolant Leak Repair. Speaking of John’s win, Mike Schlup MD of Kalimex, the distributors of K-Seal said,  “John is incredibly talented, never gives up and he keeps his cool regardless of the conditions. He is an iconic champion; a truly worthy winner.”
