Bosch has highlighted common defect causes when it comes to brake hoses and how to identify them.

Ambient humidity can penetrate porous or defective brake hoses. This affects the brake system performance and can even result in complete failure. This means brake hoses should be checked carefully at each inspection and replaced if required.

Causes of defects include; high mechanical strains, climatic influences such as humidity, road salt and oil, and material aging. They can also be caused by short pressure peaks of up to 180 bar within the brake system, incorrect fitting and issues such as accidents.

Symptoms of defective brake hoses include; reduced brake performance, brake fluid leaks, corrosion on brake lines and visibly or perceptibly porous or damaged brake hoses.

Brake hoses are safety critical components transmitting the hydraulic pressure to the brake calipers and wheel cylinders when the driver steps on the brake pedal. This means that fitting a quality replacement hose when defects are identified is vital.

Bosch brake hoses are able to operate under high mechanical stress and are resistant to chemical influences. They are fully compliant with technical regulations such as, FMVSS 106 and made from high quality materials, using the latest production methods. They are also precision engineered for a highly accurate, easy fit meaning efficient and safe installation.

Bosch brake hoses are available from stockist nationwide.
