Engine component specialist BGA has highlighted a number of products within its range that are proving especially popular in the aftermarket at present as products that provide solutions to common issues encountered by garages.

Oil Pump Chain Kit for Audi A4 (Engine BLB 2006-2012) Part Number TC0160FK. The A4 is a very popular car in Ireland, with an owner profile that places an importance on up-to-date maintenance. Oil pump issues appear to be a growing problem with this model. This kit fits 2.0TDi engines fitted to the Audi A4, A6 and several other models. BGA recommended when changing the Oil Pump (LP1036) that the chain and sprockets are changed at the same time to ensure smooth running and to prevent any damage to the new Oil Pump from worn chain components.

Timing Chain Kit for VW Golf (Engine CBZB 2010-2013). Part No. TC9600K. Another very popular car on Irish roads and dependent on mileage and driving style the timing chain could require replacement.  This kit fits the popular 1.2L CBZA and CBZB set of VAG engines. The initial design of the timing chain was poor with the links wearing quickly leading to the chain stretching.  This stretch leads to a ticking noise when the engine is started, that tends to go away after a few seconds but does signify a problem with the timing chain.  The timing is then set incorrectly which leads to errors coming up on the PCM including camshaft and crankshaft position sensor codes.  BGA always recommends changing the chain, tensioner and guides in this instance before any other damage can be done to the engine.
